Aftercare

Hello beautiful people! Here’s a step-by-step tattoo aftercare guide — follow it carefully for your piece to heal the best way possible, especially if this is your first tattoo.

Bandaging

After your tattoo, I wrap it with second skin (Saniderm) to keep bacteria out.

  • Leave it on for 2–3 days. If it’s leaking fluid to the point you can’t see the tattoo underneath, you can take it off sooner.
  • Remove it in the shower — pull gently from a corner, don’t rip it off like a bandaid.
  • Do not re-bandage it once removed.

Daily care

Once the bandage is off:

  • Wash with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap, then pat dry with a paper towel or air dry.
  • Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer 3–5 times a day for the next 3–4 weeks.
  • Keep up with washing and moisturizing throughout the healing period to keep it looking fresh.

What to expect

Totally normal during the 3–4 week healing process — no need to worry:

  • Scabbing
  • Flaking
  • Itching
  • Irritation

Stay gentle and mindful of the tattoo through this.

When to reach out

Contact me on Instagram DM or email if you notice any of the following:

  • Swollen or puffy skin
  • Pus or oozing liquid
  • Signs of infection or inflammation
  • Prolonged redness
  • Prolonged itching or hives

What to avoid

  • Don’t soak, scrub, scratch, or pick the tattoo.
  • Don’t wear tight clothing over it — let it breathe.
  • Don’t expose it to sun or tan — it’s too sensitive and can fade.
  • Don’t swim or bathe (pools, hot tubs, saunas, lakes) — risk of infection.
  • Don’t use fragranced products on it (soap, perfume, body wash) — can cause fading or infection.
  • Don’t sweat profusely — light workouts only, pace yourself.

Recommended products

  • Soap: unscented Dove bar soap.
  • Moisturizer: unscented and water-based (Lubriderm or CeraVe), applied in a thin layer.
  • Always wash your hands before touching the tattoo.
  • Wash the tattoo last in your shower routine, in case it comes into contact with shampoo, conditioner, or scented body wash.

Enjoy your new tattoo

Healing might feel tedious, but it’s only the first couple of weeks — worth it to have this tattoo looking fresh and amazing for a lifetime :)
